In the race for solutions, we choose simplicity.
We Use Local Suppliers
All garments are made in the UK in two factories; Blackhorse Lane Atelier, an independent specialist in denim and workwear dedicated to quality, community and having the lowest environmental impact possible. The other, Colourways Textiles Ltd is a third-generation family business that is part of the Fast Forward, sustainable supply chain program.
We Use One Fibre: Cotton
We use one fibre for our fabrics - cotton: either GOTS certified organic, Supima or leftover production cotton that would otherwise have ended up as waste. Cotton gets a lot of scrutiny, we know that re-use is best and grown organically, it does not contaminate the water cycle, can increase soil carbon and make for a more profitable livelihoods for farmers globally.
We Design Clothing to Last
Our garments are designed for quality, durability, to be repairable and last a long time by circular design expert, Janelle Hanna.
We Take Our Garments Back
Customers can return all garments to us for re-use or recycling when they are no longer needed through our takeback scheme.
We Don’t Use Synthetic Fabrics
We do not use synthetic fabrics for garments that get regular wear and washing, as washing synthetic clothes accounts for 35% of primary microplastics found in the environment.
We Support Living Wage Employers
The factories we work with pay living wage rates and above to their employees, with Colourways Textiles being an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer.
We Have Simple Supply Chains
Our supply chain routes are short so we know the people and places that make our products. It also helps us to keep greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) as low as possible. Used cotton is sourced in the UK. New cotton is grown in the USA, spun into yarn in Portugal, knitted into fabric and dyed in the UK.
We Don’t Use Single-Use Plastic
Concerns about the volume of plastic in our environment and the recyclability of plastic packaging, means we do not use plastic in our garment packaging. We opt for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper poly bags from Vela and always research the best packaging options that minimise pollution.
